For Participants in the Mangrove Marathon
Participation Agreement
By registering for the Mangrove Marathon (MM), participants agree to abide by all the terms and conditions outlined herein.
Induction as a Mangrove Marathon Fellow
All participants agree to be inducted as a Mangrove Marathon Fellow, demonstrating a commitment to promoting and supporting the preservation of mangroves and the environment.
Advocacy for Mangroves and the Environment
Participants commit to using their time and personal resources to actively advocate for mangroves and environmental conservation in general. This includes supporting awareness campaigns, engaging in community initiatives, and promoting sustainable practices.
Donation to Mangrove Marathon Goodwill Activities
All participants agree to contribute 10% of their winnings (if applicable) to the Mangrove Marathon, which funds projects related to mangrove restoration, environmental education, and sustainable development.
Induction and Certification Courses
Participants understand and accept that they may be required to undergo induction and certification courses to enhance their knowledge and preparedness in carrying out the role of a Mangrove Marathon Fellow/Ambassador effectively.
Fitness and Health Responsibility
Participants affirm that they are physically and medically fit to participate in the marathon. They are responsible for ensuring they have undergone any necessary medical examinations and received clearance from a healthcare professional before the event.
Assumption of Risks
Participation in the Mangrove Marathon (MM) involves inherent risks. Participants acknowledge these risks and agree that neither the event organizers nor its affiliates will be held liable for any injury, loss, or damage incurred during or as a result of their participation.
Code of Conduct
Participants must conduct themselves in a sportsmanlike manner throughout the event, showing respect for fellow participants, volunteers, and event staff. Any misconduct, including but not limited to cheating, harassment, or disrespectful behavior, may lead to disqualification and removal from the event.
Compliance with Rules and Instructions
Participants agree to comply with all the rules, guidelines, and instructions provided by the Mangrove Marathon (MM) organizers before, during, and after the event.
Changes to the Event
The Mangrove Marathon (MM) organizers reserve the right to modify the event schedule, route, or any other aspect of the event if necessary. Participants will be notified of any significant changes via official communication channels.
Cancellation or Postponement
In the event of unforeseen circumstances, including but not limited to extreme weather conditions or safety concerns, the Mangrove Marathon (MM) organizers may cancel or postpone the event. In such cases, no refunds of registration fees will be issued.
Personal Belongings
Participants are responsible for their personal belongings during the event. The Mangrove Marathon (MM) organizers will not be liable for any loss or damage to personal property.
Use of Photos and Videos
Participants acknowledge and grant the Mangrove Marathon (MM) and its affiliates the right to use any photos, videos, or other media captured during the event for marketing, promotional, and advertising purposes without any compensation.
Data Privacy
Participants acknowledge that their personal information collected during registration may be used in accordance with the Mangrove Marathon’s privacy policy.
Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These terms and conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of [insert the relevant jurisdiction]. Any disputes arising under these terms and conditions shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in [insert the relevant jurisdiction].
The Mangrove Marathon is managed by SPORTS234 Nigeria Limited.
